The Boy Scout National Jamboree occurs once every 4 years. Our next National Jamboree will be July 19-28, 2017, at Summit Bechtel Reserve at the New River Gorge, West Virginia. The Jamboree features 6 High Adventure Camps: BMX and skateboarding, Mountain biking, Climbing, Zip lines and challenge courses, Shooting sports, and Aquatics (including whitewater rafting).
Boy Scouts must be 12-18 years old, and Venture Scouts must be 14-21 years old. Scouts register individually and are grouped with other Scouts from throughout the various Districts within the Council as part of the Baltimore Area Council Contingent. This process is designed for Scouts to interact with other Scouts and be given opportunities for leadership and experience in a new environment.
Baltimore Area Council Contingent to the National Jamboree costs $1525 per Boy Scout/Venturer Scout and $975 per Unit Leader. Fees include all food, activities, equipment, transportation to and from the Summit on motorcoach buses, and a shakedown weekend (once the adults and youth are organized into troops there will be various “Shakedown weekends” for all the Troops to gather as a unit and have practice weekends of setup, activities and breakdown as they prepare for the Jamboree experience).
Handouts are available at the Troop meetings. Also, see the Council’s site for more information: http://www.baltimorebsa.org/2017nationaljamboree
