It is time to sign up for the annual Winter Cabin Camping trip. We are once again going to Camp Running Bear. Attached is the permission slip and information sheet for the weekend. We will have merit badge/Trail to 1st class sign up sheets at the next regular troop meeting on Jan 22nd. Some new and different merit badges will be offered…..
Parents please make time to come out to the camp fire on Saturday night. We ask that each family bring a snack to share.

Please find the attached permission slip for your patrol outing and return it along with a BSA activity form to the adults leading the trips. For more outing information please contact the patrol leaders and/or the adult leader for the outing. Early responses are appreciated so that cooks can plan their menus. Also, if your scout wants to serve as cook (for 2ndClass, 1st Class or the Cooking MB) please contact the adult leader as soon as possible. Also, patrol cooks should contact Sharon Gardner to go over the requirements as part of the planning process.

The US Army Heritage and Education Center Camp Out will really be a great time and is coming up very quickly. Everyone needs to wear their full uniform because you can get into the Model show for free. So don’t just wear your class A shirt. If everyone has a full uniform please try to bring it so everyone can get into the event for free while showing others Troop 899 Scout Spirit. Please bring your compasses also we will be working on an orienteering course. We are also planning several group sports activities. This will be a great weekend while having fun, learning, and enjoying the fellowship with others. Don’t forget to get the permission slip in as soon as possible. Mr. David Bongiovanni will be at the troop meeting Thursday night to answer any questions you might have. This is also a chance to share with him your group sports activity you would like to play.
Yes we will need drivers.

Paw Paw Tunnel Canoe Camping Trip, August 15 – 17. Check out the Attached Permission Slip for more information. Permission slip due August 7.
I am looking at holding a cooking merit badge campout on Saturday June 8 to Sunday June 9. We would need to meet one evening prior to this campout to go over menu’s. The goal of the meeting and weekend would be to complete requirements 1, 2 3, 4, 5, 7a, 8. Depending on the amount of free time requested we cold also possibly get 6 done. I need to know the interest in this campout. Please be advised that I only want scouts that have finished their 2nd and 1st class cooking requirements. The Troop has secured a spot to attend the 52nd West Point Camporee on the grounds of the US Military Academy at West Point, NY. The camporee is May 2-4, 2014. Attached is the permission slip. Following is the permission slip for the Earth Treks Scout Appreciation Night scheduled for April 12 from 6:30 – 9:00P. Earth Treks is at 1930 Greenspring Drive in Timonium. The cost is $15.00 per climber and this trip is open to family members/friends as well. Advance registration is required and once you are registered, you are responsible for the attendance fees, even if you and/or your registered friends/family are unable to attend the event.

Trip to Smithsonian Air & Space Museum (Udvar-Hazy Center)
Saturday, March 29, 2014.
The Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia is the companion facility to the Air & Space Museum on the National Mall in Washington, DC. Opened in 2003, its two huge hangars — the Boeing Aviation Hangar and the James S. McDonnell Space Hangar — display thousands of aviation and space artifacts, including a Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, a Concorde, and the space shuttle Discovery. The Center also offers the Airbus IMAX Theater and the Donald D. Engen Observation Tower, which gives you a 360-degree bird’s-eye view of Washington Dulles International Airport and the surrounding area.
This trip is open to family members/siblings as well.
