Deadline Tomorrow for Troop 899 Winter Cabin Camping Friday, February 26 – Sunday, February 28, 2016

Join Troop 899 for Winter Cabin Camping at The Treehouse Camp at Maple Tree Campground located in Rohrersville, Maryland near Frederick. We have secured four heated Tree Cottages. A day trip to nearby Historic Harpers Ferry, WV is planned where the Scouts will break into patrols and have an opportunity to explore the town, learn more about it’s unique history and be challenged to complete the photo scavenger hunt (please bring a digital camera or cellphone). Upon arriving at camp on Friday the Scouts will be assigned their cabin and patrol for the weekend. Friday night dinner will be provided at camp, and Saturday lunch will be enjoyed by all in town. Scouts will be patrol camp cooking all other meals. We will depart on Friday, Feb. 26th at 4:00pm from FUMC and return at 12:00pm on Sunday, Feb. 28th at Fallston Library.

The permission slip, detailed itinerary and suggested packing list can be found on the Troop Website. Permission Slips are due no later than Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016. Please contact Jeff Beavers (jdbeavers@comcast.net) with any questions.

Winter Cabin Camping February 20-22, 2015 Camp Running Bear

It is time to sign up for the annual Winter Cabin Camping trip. We are once again going to Camp Running Bear. Attached is the permission slip and information sheet for the weekend. We will have merit badge/Trail to 1st class sign up sheets at the next regular troop meeting on Jan 22nd. Some new and different merit badges will be offered…..

Parents please make time to come out to the camp fire on Saturday night. We ask that each family bring a snack to share.

Winter Cabin Camping Campfire Program

ADULTS—On Saturday night of Winter Cabin Camping we have a family campfire program. This gives you a chance to see what the scouts have worked on over the weekend, see them perform and have some social time with them and other parents. The program starts at 7:30pm. We ask that you arrive between 6:30 and 7:15 (at the latest) and bring a snack/dessert to share. We are generally done and cleaned up by 9:30pm. Please let me know if you have any questions.

If you are First Class Rank or above

You will need to sign up for 5 merit badges and rank them in order of preference. You will be slotted into 3 of them. There will be sign up sheets available at this week’s meeting. PLEASE DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO SIGN UP FOR THIS TRIP/MERIT BADGES. This trip takes a lot of coordination and I need all the time I can get 🙂 .

Scouts Needed to MC Campfire

I need 2 Scouts that are currently working on their Communications merit badge or will be working on it prior to this trip who would like to be the MC for the Saturday Campfire Program and head up the Sunday Scouts Own Service. Please let me know if you are interested – first come first served.
